When Apple released the System 7.5 Upgrade they thought they were doing us a favor (or at least being consistent) by making the メPower onモ key a メPower offモ key, too. Thatユs actually a pretty good idea, (as are many of Appleユs ideas) except that some of us use the key for other purposes. It seems that Apple is in the habit of not giving us, the CASH-PAYING END USERS, a choice (like a Control Panel setting) of whether or not we want to use some of the features they feel they should include (like zoom rectangles in the Finder, but thatユs another story).
With メNoShutButtモ you can disable the メPower offモ key. You can re-enable it later, if you want. I came across a description of this hack on comp.sys.mac.system and have incorporated it into a simple use-it-and-forget-it type application. This is NOT an extension, because there is no reason to make it one. (And besides, the rumors are that with Copland soon(?) to be here, extensions as we know them may become a thing of the past.)
Feel free to distribute this package to all the usual places as long as you do not modify the program or documentation. Oh, yes, this does NOT apply to any service that makes money beyond the costs of distribution of the media on which the program resides, without my written permission. (This means YOU, Educorp, unless you are willing to fork over some of those bucks.) If ZiffNet wants to post it, Iユll happily exchange it for free access. If any publisher wishes to include this program on a
CD-ROM collection they may do so if I get a subscription and a copy of the CD.
Any bug reports, praise or renumeration should be sent to:

Enjoy.
Version History.
0.9 First release. I tested it on a Centris 650 and Quadra 650 with and without the PPC upgrade card. Nothing blew up. But I have confidence that someone out there will manage to find a problem.
